The Ukrainian Ballet of Peace – SWAN LAKE

This successful Ukrainian ballet production will return to Finland in October 2023!

The Ukrainian Ballet of Peace – SWAN LAKE

Due to public demand and the success this production has last autumn, the classical ballet Swan Lake will return to Finland in October 2023. There will be ten locations this time, with a total of eleven performances.

The ballet troupe’s performances in December 2022 were both successful with audiences and critics alike.

“We are eagerly looking forward to our second tour in Finland. The reception we received from our Finnish audiences during our December tour was so warm and heartfelt that it is a great pleasure to return to Finland. Ukraine’s war has, of course, made our work more difficult, but we are grateful that the tour can and is wanted to be organized again in Finland. We will come to your country to dance for freedom and peace. We will bring hope for a better future. With our performance we want to make possible what we dream of,” says Irena Muradova, one of the troupe’s dancers.

The ballet troupe has toured internationally throughout the United States and Canada, Europe, and Asia, and has also made successful tours in their home country Ukraine.

On the Finnish tour, the lead role of Odette-Odile is performed by praised prima ballerina Iryna Khandazhevskaya. The male lead role is performed by Aleksey Knyazkov, the winner of an international dance competition in Athens in 2018. The sets for the ballet were tailored by Ukraine’s most skilled creators, and the stunning costumes were created by the skilled costumiers of the Odessa and Kiev National Theatres of Opera and Ballet.

Swan Lake is the first of three ballets, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, and the Nutcracker, composed by Pyotr Tchaikovsky.
